Message:   I'm sure Shillingstone will be running trains - and a lot sooner than most of us think! Static railways are a bit like stuffed animals at a museum - not as good as the real thing and with very little pulling appeal!

One day the trains from Shillingstone will actually be fulfilling a public service again, taking passengers to Bournemouth and Bath. Just wait and see!

Most heritage railways are already starting to serve a real transport need, even if at the moment most of their customers are tourists and holidaymakers.

Message:   It would be nice and i guess it is possible bearing in mind stalbridge station being built on and would need a diversion, and the massive amount of digging out the cutting at sturminster newton and also tunelling under the builders merchants yard! now that would need alot of polish blokes to do that

Message:   Hi, I've been reading your thoughts and comments on the possibility of running trains at Shillingstone and perhaps the reinstatement of a service along at least part of the old track formation. As one of the founder members of the project I feel the need to point out it was always the Trust's aim to look at future developement from Shillingstone in both directions. However, this can only be achieved once the project nears completion and we have proved to those who matter ie the County, District & Parish Councils, and of course the local residents, that we
are worthy and capable of progress beyond our present boundaries. The secret of progress, at the levels you have been discussing, is to let the suggestion of further progress come from the relevant Councillors
themselves, as if they originally thought of it-then anything is possible. But before we detrain at our chosen destination we need to return to the origins of our journey and make it look like a place we could actually start or finish a journey. It is my firm belief Shillingstone station was saved, not by luck but by fate. It was, without a doubt built on the most picturesque site on the southern half of the line, if not the whole. Therefore, it needs a lot more attention than it is getting now. The project's hardcore of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, who incidently, have done a magnificent job of returning the station to its Southern Region splendour are not getting any younger, so if you really, really want to see your ideals and fantasies
come to fruition, and you're young enough in mind and body to make a difference, why not come along and see what you can do. If you have a skill so much the better, if not, you will have by the time you've left. Thanks for listening.

Message:   As nice as it would be to relay the S&DJR in Dorset look how long it took the Swanage and the Watercress to lay their track miles. Anyway Shillingstone need to be finish first and just saying this is not the victorian area theres alot more it the way today.

Message:   Yes Mark, I would tend to agree with you on that point
especially as I started with Swanage in 1976, and am
proud to be part of that magnificent achievement. But
look how far they have progressed in 30 years by hard work and determination, not to mention forward thinking and planning. I'm fully aware that Shillingstone will never be able to emulate Swanage as
the conditions and situation are far different ie they
had a start point and a potential finishing point.
Whereas we are akin to a lighthouse without any coastline, more or less starting in the middle of nowhere and looking for somewhere to go. There is the potential to go from Sturminster Newton to Blandford,
subject to the trailway being ever so slightly diverted. Who knows where we will be in 30 years time?
Unfortunately I don't think I will be alive to see it,
but I will assure you of one thing-there are those of us working on this project that will strive to achieve
the maximum potential available...........
.......All we need is more people to push it forward.
