It is with deep regret that I have to announce that Syd Howlett passed away at 1am on Saturday 23 February 2008. Syd was the Secretary for many years and did a great deal of work for the trust, much of it behind the scenes, to ensure the Project's success. Without his dedication and time, the Shillingstone Station Project would not have been as prosperous as it is now. He was a man with vast amounts of knowledge and experience, which was always willingly shared. Syd was one of the founder members of the Trust. He made a wish that his ashes be scattered on the Station site. Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Further details of proposals for a memorial will be published on the Shillingstone Station website in the next few days / week.
